CPOC C Development System for the Psion 3a ========================================== CPOC Compiler (C86) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 25th January, 1996 INTRODUCTION ~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is the C compiler phase for use with CPOC (release 0.80 or later). It is not intended to be used as a stand-alone program, but via the CPOC front-end program. It therefore needs the CPOC front-end program (part of the "CPOC Starter Pack") to operate. The "CPOC compiler" is provided separately to the "CPOC Starter Pack" for two reasons: - Not all users of CPOC may want this part of the system. - We may well want to update one component of the system without updating other parts. The modular nature of CPOC lends itself to this approach. INSTALLATION ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The "CPOC Compiler" comprises of the following files: C86CHECK.IMG Compiler program (syntax check only version) C86CODE.IMG Compiler program (full version) README.TXT This file You only need to install one of the C86xxx.IMG files. Use the (smaller) C86CHECK.IMG file if you only intend to edit and syntax check your C source code on the Psion, and use the (larger) C86CODE.IMG file if you intend to generate code from your C source. Having said that you may want to install both as the C86CHECK.IMG version has additional warning options built in. If both are installed then the CPOC front-end will automatically pick the C86CODE.IMG version if you have specified that code is to be generated, and the C86CHECK.IMG version if you are only syntax checking your source code. The C86CHECK.IMG or C86CODE.IMG files need to be installed in the directory that you have chosen to hold CPOC program files. Normally this will be a \CPOC\ directory (on any drive). For more information on alternative locations please read the README.TXT file that is provided with the CPOC "Starter Pack" (or the on-line help that is provided as part of the CPOC front-end program). Please also check that there is a copy of the CPOCDYL.DYL file provided with the CPOC "Starter Pack" in the same directory as the CPP.IMG program. If not, you will get a "Panic 222" message when you try and run the compiler from CPOC. COPYRIGHT ~~~~~~~~~ The CPOC system is (c)copyright 1995-1996 by K.D. Walker and D.J.
